Kern County Point-in-Time Homeless Count

Monday, Dec 10, 2018

Help us conduct a real-time count of all people experiencing homelessness.
Volunteer for the 2019 Point -in-Homeless Count on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 from 4-8 a.m. at several locations throughout Kern County.

The Kern County Homeless Collaborative's (KCHC) mission is to put an end to homelessness in Kern County through collaborative planning and action. The Point-in-Time (PIT) Homeless Count is a single day in January dedicated to conducting surveys with the County's most vulnerable homeless individuals and families experiencing homelessness---, sleeping in vehicles, on the streets, or sleeping in other places not meant for habitation.

The PIT count relies on volunteer participation and provides required data that helps our county access needed federal and state homeless services resources.

Volunteers must be 18+
Volunteers will be put in groups of no less than 3 volunteers, 1 being experienced and possess firsthand knowledge of homelessness. Together, these groups will canvass the streets, tally and survey as many people experiencing homelessness as possible in each area.

A training session will be required before volunteering, to review over safety precautions and learn the survey. This training session will be offered at convenient times and will be posted soon to ensure everyone can attend!
