HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS....AND HOPE!

11/26/2014

November 17-December 17: The Fifth Annual CHiPs for Kids Toy DriveBring a new, unopened toy for kids of all ages, up to 16 years old. Drop off sites include the CHP office on Buck Owens Blvd., Motor City in the Auto Mall, The Bakersfield Californian offices on Eye Street, and United Way of Kern County’s office on Stockdale Hwy.

November 27, 10am-noon: Bakersfield Burrito Project community outreach event at Central Park at Millcreek. First come, first served. Free: Jackets, clothing, socks, scarves and of course BREAKFAST BURRITOS!  https://www.facebook.com/GBLAHealth#!/BakoBurrito

November 27, 11am-1pm: The Mission at Kern County presents the annual Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. 816 E 21st Street. For info, 325-0863.

November 29: The Bakersfield Condor annual Teddy Bear Toss is a show stopper! Bring a new ostuffed animal to the game and when the Condors score their first goal, throw your bears onto the ice. Over 7,400 bears were tossed onto the ice last year. To date more than 89k stuffed animals have been donated to Kern County charities by the United Way of Kern County. Ongoing: Greenfield Family Resource Center Shoe Raiser - providing supportive services to families living in the Greenfield School District focusing on improving education, health, safety and emotional success by providing access to needed resources. The annual Payless Shoes field trip helps 150 students in need of shoes during the cold winter months. Private donations make this a reality, at: http://www.gofundme.com/hudn1s

Ongoing: The Kern County Veterans Collaborative will be giving away food baskets to veterans during Christmas. Veterans and their families who are in need are asked to register for a food basket with California Veterans Assistance Foundation at 695-3626.  Donations of food are welcome and can be dropped off at 1400 Easton Dr. 102.
